Echoes by Iain McLaughlin and Claire Bartlett, the sixth book in the Time Hunter series, is an atmospheric Sapphire & Steel-esque story. I'm not sure it entirely makes sense, but that doesn't matter too much.

If there was any explanation for how the entity got trapped in the first place, I missed it, and the resolution was a bit dubious - if somebody no longer ever existed, how can there be a paradox in their lives? A somewhat bleak ending for most of the people involved, though it's possible their experiences during the story might help turn their lives around in some cases - the book could have done a bit more to highlight that silver lining, I think. But over all a good story, with sympathetic characters.
