Hello, and welcome to Foreman's World 8)

We seem to have a decent number of subscribers here, and this thread is an opportunity to introduce yourselves if you are so inclined. A few questions to get you started:

1) What's your favourite Doctor/companion(s) team?
2) What's your favourite Who-related book?
3) How did you discover Doctor Who books?

Calling "This Town" DW related is a bit of a stretch. :)

1) Eighth Doctor, Fitz, and Anji. Also the Second Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe, though of course they're telly rather than books.

2) The Blue Angel, by Paul Magrs and Jeremy Hoad. I love the complexity, the use of metafiction and non-linear narrative, the amazing inventiveness, and the sense of humor. Oh, and the slashiness. *grins*

3) I'm primarily a reader of the EDAs, which I learned about through fannish friends. I haven't read any NAs yet because I still haven't seen the Seventh Doctor's episodes.

1) Eight, Fitz and Anji. Today's runner up: Five, Peri and Erimem. It varies depending on what mood I'm in, though!

2) History 101: Anji is awesome, Eight and Fitz are great, and the setting, themes and story all tie together beautifully.

3) Mostly fannish osmosis, though I do have a copy of The Faceless Ones that I bought from the library when I was ten. It was the fic Doctor Who and the Bored Game of Death that made me decide to read the EDAs, though.

You're welcome!

I haven't, no - I haven't started on the Faction Paradox stuff yet, still working my way through the EDAs, but I'm sure I'll get to it eventually!

1, Six/Evelyn, or Three/Liz
2, Changes on a regular basis. Short Trips: The Centenarian is the most recent one I really loved.
3, I had target novelisations as a kid, but the EDAs/NDAs I was unaware of until I came across the eBooks on the BBC website. Yes, I know, I am bad.

1.) Love Leela and Four. Also Six and Evelyn.
2.) Whatever I'm reading at the moment, which is Theatre of War. Been reading a lot of Bernice Summerfield things, so also Life During Wartime.
3.) I found them at a bookstore at a local mall after the series was canceled. I was amazed that there was still Who-related things being produced. I had almost a complete run, and my mom gave them all away to a Goodwill without asking.

1) It changes from moment to moment but I will admit to having a special fondness for Seven & Ace (with a side order of Hex), Five, Peri & Erimem, Two, Zoe & Jamie oh and Eight & Izzy with occasional dashes of Fey (do the comics count as books? Maybe if I call them graphic novels?).
2) The TimeWyrm series are probably the ones I read most, and I'll read anything Paul Cornell writes, so really I need to get round to meeting Benny... other than that Scarlett Empress from the EDAs, which has a big epic fantasy adventure (in a red double-decker bus), daring adventurers, shifting POVs and Paul Magrs fanboying the Target Novellisations at the end.
3) Well I caught the tale end of the 7th Doctor's run aged 4 so, growing up Doctor Who was largely the target novelisations I borrowed from the library. I moved onto the NAs but they weren't as readily available (*coughs* didn't read them in WHSmith at all), and I couldn't read them in order and I didn't really like what they did with Ace. Then the TV Movie came along and I flowed into the EDAs for a couple of years before giving up on them too...And now I've got back into them through excellent fic which made me fall in love with Fitz a bit so I'm back reading them again...

Oooo, yes, I would encourage you in that: Benny = win. I have issues with some of Cornell's work on the NAs, because rightly or not I tend to associate him with quite a few of the things that piss me off about NA!Ace, but Bennylove!

1) Ten and Donna Noble. *ducks*
2) Tie between "Interference" (Mad Larry Miles) and Terrance Dicks' novelization of "The Talons of Weng-Chiang" (favourite memory from being 8 years old).
3) I dated a crazy lady who had a full collection. :P

1) 7th doctor and Ace.
2) I don't have many DW books really, they don't have that many in the Netherlands. But in the 70/80s when I was young there were a couple translated ones, and I liked The Daleks best. Nevertheless it was quite confusing that the guy on the cover didn't look like Tom Baker, the only Doctor shown on Dutch tv.
3) By accident in a book shop.

1) You're asking me to ch... okay, fine, Seven/Ace, then, but I love the vast majority of them. (Even Six-Mel. Yes really.)
2) Death and Diplomacy.
3) I'd known they were out there ever since I made friends with a Benny fan shortly after getting into fandom, but then I turned up a copy of Eternity Weeps at the library booksale and pretty much had to go looking for the rest of the NA line after that just to figure out what I'd just read, and then it sort of spiralled...
